St Martin’s Cross on Iona is associated with St Martin of Tours, a 4th-century Christian saint venerated in Scotland for his role in spreading Christianity. The cross and its base are linked to early medieval Christian tradition on the island, which was a major center of monastic and spiritual life founded by St Columba in the 6th century.
