Invergordon Castle and Invergordon Golf Club occupy the same Highland ground, a nineteenth-century course laid beside a name that sounds like a fortress. Invergordon Castle was originally a medieval fortress built by the Gordon family in the 13th or 14th century, later replaced by a mansion. It is remembered for its historical significance in the region and its transformation into a golf course in the 19th century.
