This black commemorative plaque records: Engineering Heritage Award. Bromsgrove Railway Station. Celebrating the 175th Anniversary of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. In 1846 near this spot a group of engineers decided to form an Institution to "give an impulse to inventions likely to be useful to the world."
