What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort in County Mayo, an earthen ring where human history has thinned to suggestion. Its name points instead of claiming, as if the place refuses to be known or wants to be found. The earth may have held a household, a boundary or a forgotten ceremony before it became a marker for what cannot be written.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
