What is recorded here

Indicated is a fairy fort in County Mayo, Ireland: a 45m circular pasture margin marked by a low earthen bank, a shallow outer ditch and two inward-running banks from the west. It belongs to the old Irish landscape of raths, where people set boundaries, kept livestock and imagined the hidden world sharing the same field. The name itself points elsewhere, as if the place were never meant to be owned but recognized.

In good pasture, on gentle E-facing slope. Circular area (45m N-S; 45m E-W), enclosed by remains of partly overgrown earthen bank (H 0.8m) N to SW, with external fosse (D 0.2m). Two low earthen banks (L; 15.7m and 9m, respectively), run from W to centre of site. The above description has been derived from D.
