What is recorded here

In level grassland overlooking marshy land to S. Oval enclosure (E-W 140m, N-S 104m), in fair condition, defined by a bank and external fosse; the latter is present only at SW. A field wall overlies to bank from E through S to NW. Gaps at NE and W appear modern. A burial ground (GA044-090002-) is associated. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
