Indicated

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Indicated is a broken earthen ring on a Galway ridge, its bank low enough for a child to climb yet wide enough to hold a life inside. The grassland has swallowed most of the fosse, leaving only a faint western scar and a sloping floor that drains rain toward the south. Trees once grew upon the wall, their roots prying the clay open before axes cut them back. The fort no longer keeps out strangers, but it still marks the exact place where human hands shaped the ridge into a room for living.
On a low ridge in grassland. This poorly preserved almost circular rath (diam. c. 32m) is defined by a bank (base Wth 3.1m; int. H 1.2m; ext. H 0.5m) and traces of an external fosse (Wth 1.3m). The bank is low and disjointed all round and has been levelled from SW to WSW. A number of trees growing on it have been felled. The fosse is only visible from W to N. The interior slopes to the SW.
