What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort in County Mayo, an earthen ring where human history has thinned to legend. The soil may have held a farm, a temple or a child’s buried jar before the stories took over. People still point at the ridge and refuse to build there, not from fear but respect for the warning the land keeps repeating.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
