What is recorded here
In dense hazel wood and low thorn on karst pavement at the SW foot of very low (50’) hillock, on the townland boundary between Lisnanard and Newtown. Hachured on the 1842 ed. of the OS 6-inch map and indicated by a solid line as a circular feature (diam. c. 20m) on the 1915 ed. The hazel cover makes it very difficult to navigate and it proved impossible to locate on inspection in 1997. It is discernible on recent satellite imagery as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) apparently defined by a low stone wall. Field walls radiate from it to the WNW and SSW. The wall extending SSW follows the line of the townland boundary. The site of a larger (diam. c. 60m) enclosure (CL002-045----) lies c. 180m to the WSW.
