What is recorded here

In undulating pasture, on a small terrace on a NE-facing slope. An oval enclosure, incorporated along its W arc into a NNE-SSW field boundary, is visible in an aerial photograph (ACAP, V 203/151-0). The enclosure and the field boundaries are now levelled. The enclosure is now evident as a slightly raised level area (diam. c. 25m) roughly defined NW-SE by a broadly sloping scarp (H 1.8m) which merges with the natural slope. A faint scarp crosses the interior NE-SW. The ground rises immediately to the S. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
