Indicated is a hundred-metre ecclesiastical enclosure at Oughtmama, County Clare, set in a fertile valley beneath Turlough Hill. Its north edge still shows as a scarp while a modern field wall curves along the south, marking the smaller circle inside the larger monastic complex. The boundary may have directed prayer, movement or memory before human life faded from the valley.

At the SE end of a large fertile valley at the N foot of Turlough Hill. A partially traceable enclosure (diam. c. 100m) defined by a scarp at N and by a curving modern field wall along the S. This is within a larger ecclesiastical enclosure (CL003-032007-) at Oughtmama and it encloses two churches (CL0003-032002- and CL003-032003- ). The larger outer enclosure (CL003-032007-) encloses the entire monastic complex. The remains at Oughtmama are national monuments in State Care, no. 12.
