
What is recorded here
At the SE end of a large fertile valley at the N foot of Turlough Hill. A partially traceable enclosure (diam. c. 100m) defined by a scarp at N and by a curving modern field wall along the S. This is within a larger ecclesiastical enclosure (CL003-032007-) at Oughtmama and it encloses two churches (CL0003-032002- and CL003-032003- ). The larger outer enclosure (CL003-032007-) encloses the entire monastic complex. The remains at Oughtmama are national monuments in State Care, no. 12.
