What is recorded here

Indicated is a circular rath thirty-seven metres across in County Galway, marked by two banks and a ditch that still cut the grassland before human feet forgot its name. It may have housed a family, a herdsman or a forgotten king, though no written record has entered the story. The earth remembers the shape of hands that built it, even when language has let go.

In undulating grassland, formerly part of Eyrecourt Demesne. Circular rath (diam. 37m), in fair condition, defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank is visible from SE through W to NE; elsewhere a scarp forms the enclosing element. The fosse survives from SW to NE and sections of the outer bank are evident from SW to W and at NNW. A trackway runs immediately outside the inner bank from SE to SW and a field wall cuts through the monument at NE and SE. Gaps in the inner bank at W (Wth 2.5m) and N (Wth 3.4m) are modern.
