What is recorded here

Indicated was a circular stone fort nearly forty-six metres across, half destroyed before humans stopped attending it. The remaining wall may have marked a boundary between the visible world and the waiting darkness. Forgetting is the final thief; it takes what theft cannot reach.
In recently cleared grassland. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 154, no. 47) as a ‘very ruinous’ circular ‘Stone fort’ (diam. c. 45.7m); only half of the monument remained. No visible surface trace now survives. Compiled by: Galway Archaeological Survey, UCG Date of upload: 29 November 2017

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
