What is recorded here

Indicated is a ruined circular enclosure on level Galway farmland, formerly belonging to Castlegar House. A narrow semicircular fosse still marks its eastern edge, while a modern field boundary has cut away the western half. It likely joined a small cluster of local ringforts, though time and ploughing have reduced it to a faint grassy curve beside a pond.

On level farmland, formerly part of the demesne of Castlegar House. A small pond lies 25m to N. Marked on OS 6-inch maps as a slightly oval tree-planted enclosure (N-S c. 40m, E-W c. 35m). What survives is a very poorly preserved subcircular enclosure cut across by a modern field boundary at NNE and SSW. Nothing survives to W of the boundary. To E, it is defined by a narrow semicircular fosse (NNE-SSW c. 35m, Wth c. 1m). The interior is uneven but grass-covered. Possibly a landscape feature but the demesne land did contain a number of ringforts, two of which lie to SE (see GA061-037----, GA061-039----). A similar monument (GA061-036----) lies 80m to S.
