Indicated is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Carrowgarve (roscommon By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a gentle NE-facing slope on the broad WNW-ESE Carnfree ridge. A circular grass-covered area measures about 30 metres across and is defined by an earthen bank and outer fosse. The entrance and causeway appear at the SE, while the fosse is absent from W to NW.
On a gentle NE-facing slope of the broad WNW-ESE Carnfree ridge. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 30.4m NE-SW; 29.2m NW-SE) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2.7-4.3m; int. H 0.6m at NE to 1.1m at NW; ext. H 1.6-2m) and outer fosse (Wth of top 5.2-6.2m generally to 9.4m at SE; Wth of base 1.4-2m; D 0.4-0.6m generally to 1.3m SE-SW), which is absent W-NW (max. ext. diam. 46m NE-SW; 45.3m NW-SE). The entrance (Wth 2.4m) and causeway (Wth 3.5m) are at SE.
