What is recorded here
Indicated is a vanished circular enclosure in County Mayo, mapped in 1838 but levelled before 1922, leaving only a faint rise beside a living farmstead. The land has swallowed the boundary while the wedge tomb nearby still marks the old world beneath the pasture. Forgetting is not the same as erasure because the shape remains hidden inside the soil, waiting for rain or memory to reveal it again.
In pasture. There is a farmstead immediately to E. A roughly circular rath-like embanked enclosure is shown on 1838 OS 6-inch map, and a circular hachured enclosure (diam. c. 20m), bisected on NE-SW axis by laneway, is shown on 25-inch plan; it is not shown on 1922 OS 6-inch edition. This enclosure has been levelled; there is no visible surface trace at ground level, bar a slight rise without a clearly defined outline. It is bisected roughly centrally by NE-SW field wall.
There is a wedge tomb (MA040-094) 20m to ENE.
