What is recorded here
Indicated is a crannog in County Mayo, Ireland. It is an artificial island, often built with timber, stone and soil, where people lived above the water and watched the land from a small height. The name gives no further shape, but the form is clear: a made place in a wet world, still standing where invention and endurance met.
