What is recorded here
Indicated is a fairy fort in County Mayo, an earthen ring where human history has thinned to legend. The soil may have held a household, a boundary or a warning, but no clear name has survived to confirm it. What remains is a rounded mark in the landscape, large enough to exclude chance and silent enough to invite invention.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
