What is recorded here

In pasture, on a ridge overlooking the Owbeg River valley to the E. The faint outline of an oval enclosure (c. 40m N-S; c. 25m E-W) is visible in an aerial photograph (GSIAP, V 289/290) taken in 1973. The aerial photograph shows that the field boundaries adjacent to the enclosure at N and to the NE have been levelled. An arc of a low earthen bank (C 23.5m; H c. 0.1m) is visible NNW-E at ground level and may be the remains of this enclosure. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry. Volume I: South-West Kerry' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 2009). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload: 30 May 2011
