Why this matters

A local fairy fort (ringfort/rath); wider significance not recorded.

Overview

In level pasture. A raised oval area (c. 47m NNW-SSE; c. 32m ENE-WSW) enclosed by a wide low bank of earth and stone (Wth 5.3m; H 0.1-0.75m) and an external fosse (Wth 4.8m; D 0.25-0.7m). For much of its circuit the bank has been denuded almost to the ground level of the interior. A break (Wth c. 2.8m) in the bank at NNW with traces of an accompanying causeway probably marks the original entrance. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 23 November 2011
