What is recorded here

Marked as a D-shaped enclosure (dims. c. 70m E-W; c. 55m N-S) slightly truncated by an E-W road at S on the 1839 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. It is situated on a gentle NE-facing slope in a col between Ballyhighland Hill c. 800m to the SE and a lower rise c. 1 km to the NW. Nothing is visible at ground level but it is visible as a faint oval cropmark enclosure (dims. c. 60m NW-SE; c. 40m NE-SW) around a water resevoir on aerial photographs (MM (17) 26-7; (55) 12, 13). Archaeological testing (08E0431) on the other side of the road faileld to produce any related material (McLoughlin 2011) The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wexford' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1996).
