Indicated is a circular cashel on a Clare plateau where hazel grows thick and limestone bites through rough pasture. Its stone wall still stands one to two metres high, enclosing a space wide enough for a small household or a forgotten ritual. The western land drops steeply, hiding the fort from casual sight and inviting imagination about who built it, why they chose that edge, and what they defended against.

On a rise on a plateau in an area of hazel growth, rough pasture and limestone pavement, with land sloping steeply to the W. Indicated on the 1897 OS 25-inch plan and 1920 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. This circular cashel (int. diam. c. 15.5m; ext. diam. c. 18.5m) is defined by a stone wall (H 1-1.6m; Wth c. 1.5m) and associated spill (combined Wth c. 6m). The outer wall-face, composed of large horizontally laid stones, is generally visible, especially from N to W, but it is difficult to trace its inner wall-face.
