What is recorded here

Indicated is a D-shaped drystone enclosure at the northern edge of a Clare ravine, nested inside a vast medieval field system. It measures barely twenty metres across, yet it sits beside ancient boundaries as if waiting to be noticed. The wall is modern, but the setting is old enough to make that choice deliberate. Someone drew a new line across ancient land, perhaps to mark a memory, a claim, or a boundary no longer written anywhere.

Situated in scrub and rough pasture at the N edge of a ravine aligned NW-SE within a very extensive medieval field system (CL009-059001-) spanning several townlands. Listed as ‘Enclosure, possible’ in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). On inspection in 1997 this was found to be a D-shaped enclosure (ext. dims. 20.6m NE-SW; 22.8m NW-SE) with a straight N side orientated NW-SE, defined by a single drystone wall (Wth c. 0.5m).
