What is recorded here

In pasture, adjoining farmyard. Circular, slightly raised area (diam c. 30m) defined by earthen bank (H 1m) SSW->NNE, stone-faced externally. According to local information, remains of bank levelled c. 1974 during construction of shed outside enclosure to SE. Interior heavily overgrown and partially used as dumping ground for old machinery etc. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork. Volume 3: Mid Cork' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 14 January 2009
