This blue commemorative plaque records: Journalist and human rights activist Ida B. Wells-Barnett 1862-1931 stayed in a house on this site in 1893 as part of her British Isles lecturing tour Recorded plaque organisation: Nubian Jak Community Trust.
Ida B. Wells was an influential journalist and civil rights advocate who investigated and documented lynchings, advocating against racial violence and for women's suffrage in the United States. Her lectures and writings played a crucial role in raising international awareness about racial injustice in America.
