Knockroe preserves a Thirteenth-century hut inside a rath, its collapsed stones still forming a broad circular mound. The building has lost every visible wall, yet it retains the scale and shape of a room large enough to hold several people. Rain, grass and time have erased the craftsmanship, but they have not erased the fact that someone shaped the place for daily life.

A portion of the level interior of the rath is occupied by a large overgrown stony mound, measuring 13m in overall diameter. Though no facing is visible, it may represent the collapsed remnants of a large hut (KE081-013001-). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
