Hut site in Drombohilly Upper

In rough hill pasture, on a NW-facing slope with outcropping rock, overlooking Kenmare Bay. The remains of a circular hut site (diam. 5.6m) defined by a collapsed drystone wall (T 0.6m; H 0.3m) which is best preserved S-NE. Two contiguous stone (max. L 1.2m; H 0.25m; T 0.25m) slabs form the arc NE-E. A break at E may indicate an entrance. The NW portion of the interior is raised (H 0.9m) and the SE portion is cut (D 0.7m) into the upslope to compensate for the hillslope. A relict wall from a network of field boundaries (KE109-001030-) is immediately to the E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Kerry.
