O'Malley misremembered the field, but the stones remember the shape: a low oval chamber with a northern mouth, crushed under its own roof. Lynch drew a square hut near Coolaconan, yet memory often resharks truth into angles. The dead may have laid here before graves had names, while the living built elsewhere and forgot.

Located in the SW corner of a steeply sloping field. Remnants of an oval-shaped hut of rough construction with a .9m wide entrance at N. Stone collapse fills the interior and abuts the external wall-face. D: 3.9m x 2.3m. H: .6m. T: .8m. Adjacent at S, a roughly circular-shaped mound of stone collapse with protruding slabs at its centre and along the S side. Possibly a collapsed hut (KE088-037001-). Overall diameter: 4.3m x 3.6m. Old collapsed field walls and a dense scattering of loose stone lie within this quadrant of the field. This may be the 'graves site' noted by O'Malley, though he erroneously places the site one field to the N (OPW, 1937). It may also be the location of the square hut 'near Coolaconan' sketched by Lynch (1902a, 55). The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
