What is recorded here

This tablet was erected by William Henry Dawes Late Lieutenant Of H.M. 22nd Regt. in honor of those brave men of the allied armies who fell on the alma at Inkermann and at the Siege of Sevastopol. AD 1857
British and Allied forces fought Russian troops during the Battle of the Alma (September 1854), the Battle of Inkermann (November 1854), and the Siege of Sevastopol (1854–1855) during the Crimean War. The battles resulted in Allied victories that weakened Russian influence in the Black Sea region and contributed to the eventual Russian withdrawal from the war.
