House

In the Civil Survey (1654-6), there is a description of a 'new stone house unfinished' in 'Garranvelly' which has 'ye accomodation of the River Shewer runinge by them', the proprietor in 1640 being 'Edmond Tobyne of Garranvelly Gent. [and] Thomas Lord Baron of Cahyr. Irish Papists' (Simington 1931, vol.1, 355). This house had been tentatively located to Garnavilla House. On field inspection this was found to be a two-storey, three-bay, 18th-century house with a single-bay break-front, with a blank lunette recess in the pediment.
