Six metres of circular shadow, seven wooden posts, one central fire. The house fit a single room, a single breath of smoke, a single life lived in the round. Everything else waited outside: the buried body, the burnt mound, the ringfort and its hidden passages. The small house remains the clearest point because it is the only place where the living and dead shared one visible address.

Excavations in 2006 revealed a group of seven postholes and two stakeholes which created a sub-circular arrangement with a central hearth (diam 6m). Sherds of prehistoric pottery of possible Bronze Age date and struck flint were recovered from the postholes (Cocoran, E, 2009, 38). Southwest of the possible prehistoric house site was an inhumation within a ring ditch, to the southwest of which was a burnt mound. North of the prehistoric activity was a ringfort containing a possible house site and two Man-made underground passages (Corcoran, 2009).
