Excavation carried out in advance of construction of the N8 Cashel Bypass and N74 Link Road uncovered a circular structure (diam. c. 10m) with an inner circle of post-holes and a partial outer circle projecting from it to the N and NW. Close to the structure were two pits to the immediate S and N; the southern pit showed evidence of burning and may have been an oven or kiln. Associated pottery suggests a possible Bronze Age date for this possible house. Projecting lines and arcs of post- and stake-holes associated with the possible house could be associated paddocks or wind breaks. According to local information extensive field alteration and vegetation clearance had taken place in this area and this could explain the lack of occupation layers within the possible house.
