Within a subrectangular enclosure (KK019-135----) on the E floodplain of a small tributary of the river Nore. Excavated in 2007 in advance of the N9/N10 Kilcullen to Waterford road scheme (Licence no. E3734). A structure of sill beam timber construction with a slate roof and an entrance facing W. The entrance corresponded to a slightly raised and mettled causeway that led towards the river. The structure contained a working surface and a hearth lined with stone. Several pieces of rotary quernstone were recovered from both features. Metal knives, a lead weight and other metal tools were also recovered. The pottery sherds recovered varied from simple Leinster cooking ware pots to glazed Kilkenny fine wares and quite high status imported wares. Two silver coins and one of copper alloy were also found. A mud/sod-built structure which had a thatched roof lay immediately to the N.
