What is recorded here

The precise location of a stone house and bawn (LI023-340002-) in the townland of Caherline or Ballyhobin has not been identified. The Civil Survey of 1654-56 recorded that in 'Carlyne and Balliobyne one pl. wh. a stone house a Bawen and a marbell quarrie (LI023-339----) thereunto' (Simington 1938, 74). In 1641 this house and bawn was located on the lands of Connor Clancie of Ballibrickyn who is listed as an 'Irish Papist'. Compiled by: Caimin O'Brien Date of upload: 4 July 2017
