House, indeterminate date

What is recorded here

In cutaway bog on N-facing slope to S of Lough Sheeauns. Preliminary fieldwork in this area has indicated the foundations of at least eight houses, one of which is rectangular (L 4.8m, Wth 4m). The remainder are circular, ranging in diameter from 6m to 11.5m. Although spatially associated with a complex of monuments around Lough Sheeauns, including a pre-bog field system (GA022-077----), court-tomb (GA022-106----) and a stone row (GA022-060----), their exact relationship to each other is unknown. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. I - West Galway'. Compiled by Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1993). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
