This blue commemorative plaque records: Site of The Blue Ball Inn. Admiral Lord Nelson with Sir William and Lady Hamilton in 1802 attended a performance in its 'Fit Up' theatre.
Admiral Viscount Sir Horatio Nelson RN KB was a British naval hero who played a crucial role in several naval battles during the Napoleonic Wars, most famously at Trafalgar; Lady Emma Hamilton and Rt Hon. Sir William Hamilton were notable figures of their time, with Sir William serving as British Ambassador to Naples and Lady Hamilton being an influential society hostess and Nelson's lover; The Blue Ball Inn is historically significant for hosting a performance attended by these prominent individuals in 1802.
