This blue commemorative plaque records: He landed at Gorleston on 6th November 1800 on his return from Europe Admiral Horatio Nelson following his victory over the French Fleet at the Battle of the Nile 1798 G.Y.L.H & A.S. Admiral Viscount Sir Horatio Nelson was a British naval commander renowned for his victories in the Napoleonic Wars, particularly at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805, where he defeated the combined French and Spanish fleets but lost his life. His leadership and strategic brilliance secured British naval supremacy and are remembered as pivotal to the nation's military history.
