Holywood Motte stands as a medieval earthwork in Ballykeel, its buried depth and forgotten purpose preserved under State Care. The soil may still hold the shape of a tower, a watchroom or a boundary marker lost before written memory. A person may have climbed that mound at dawn, watching the valley emerge from fog while believing the land itself was awake.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as HOLYWOOD MOTTE. Recorded period: MEDIEVAL. Recorded protection: State Care and Scheduled. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.
