HOLY WELL (O.S. mem site; unlocated) in Bighouse; Torglass

HOLY WELL (O.S. mem site; unlocated)

What is recorded here

Holy wells have never stopped giving water, even when the stones around them broke or buried. That is why people kept returning to Bighouse, drawing cups or bottles from the dark mouth of the earth and carrying the water home. The well may have been forgotten by maps, but it never stopped being useful.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as HOLY WELL (O.S. mem site; unlocated). Recorded period: UNCERTAIN. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
