Holy well in Leitir Mealláin — Report the wrong picture

Tobar na Caillí is a natural pothole on rocks below the high-water mark at the southwest tip of Leitir Mealláin. Local tradition holds that a woman from Bó Bhrocháin dreamed she would be cured of bone pains at this spot, then found the well and drank its water. The story gives the stone a heartbeat: a tired body, a sleeping promise, and a small jar of seawater waiting for someone brave enough to believe the dream.

On rocks below HWM at SW tip of Leitir Mealláin. Known locally as Tobar na Caillí, it consists of a natural pothole, discovered, according to local tradition, by a woman from Bó Bhrocháin who had dreamed she would be cured of pains in the bones at this spot. Between this well and another c. 310m to SE (GA089-020----) are two porphyry (quartz) dykes running / N-S, regarded as the roads the saints took to Oileáin Árann (info. T. Robinson). Not visited. Linked to a local tradition involving a woman from Bó Bhrocháin who, according to folklore, discovered the well after dreaming of a cure for her condition. The well, known as Tobar na Caillí ("the Well of the Woman"), is associated with healing practices and may have been venerated for its curative properties.
