Holy Trinity, York and Hornpot Lane brass plaque

This brass commemorative plaque records: Hornpot Lane. Leading to Holy Trinity Church. A name which has survived from the late 13th Century. Excavations in 1957-58 revealed a 14th century pit in this area containing the remains of horns associated with the horn making industry.

Hornpot Lane's name reflects its historical association with the medieval horn-making industry, evidenced by excavated 14th-century artifacts, linking it to the nearby Holy Trinity Church which has been a focal point of the community since at least the late 13th century.
