Hole of Sneith

Scotland's National Record of the Historic Environment records Hole of Sneith as Covenanters Cave (17th Century), Waterfall (nil Antiquity). The official map says its point is accurate as follows: NGR given to the nearest 1m. The record does not by itself mean that the public may enter the place.

Hole of Sneith is a cave associated with the 17th-century Covenanters, who used it as a place of refuge during periods of persecution in Scotland. Its location near a waterfall may have provided both natural protection and a source of water for those hiding there.
