Hogans Pass

The Civil Survey (1654-6) describes 'the fford called O Hogans mill' (Simington 1934, vol.2, 143). It is likely that this ford (TN020-034001-) is at the location described as 'Hogan's Pass' on the 1st (1840) and 2nd (1954) ed. OS 6-inch map. A bridge called 'Hogan's Pass Bridge' is now located at the fording point. It is a small hump-backed road bridge (Wth 6.3m; wall T 0.48m) over the river consisting of a single segmental arch with rough cut voussoirs. Bridge widened to S, this is visible via straight joint on underside of vault, bridge originally measured four meters wide.
