Hoddom Castle, Walled Garden, East Potting Shed stands in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, as a small outbuilding beside a larger estate. The exact purpose of that east shed may have been to hold pots, soil or tools for the walled garden, yet no surviving detail confirms the claim. A keeper may have stood there in rain, waiting for hands free to carry heavy clay. The castle and garden belong to memory now, but the shed still suggests that someone tended life in a narrow strip of earth.
