Hms Select

Wreck

Why this matters

HMS Select was a British Royal Navy frigate launched in 1795 and lost in 1800 after striking a reef off the coast of Ceylon (modern-day Sri Lanka) during a storm. All 28 crew members perished, and the wreck holds historical significance as part of Britain's naval presence in the Indian Ocean during the Napoleonic Wars.
