HMS Oceanic was a British Armed Merchant Cruiser that was torpedoed and sunk by the German U-boat U-27 on 15 September 1914, near Hoevdi Grund, Foula, in the North Atlantic. The ship was carrying a cargo of coal and ammunition, and its loss contributed to the early naval challenges faced by the Allies in World War I.
