Gracefield in Ballymaguigan remains a post-medieval settlement marked only by a official point on the northern edge of County Derry. The land may have held kitchens, gardens or crowded rooms before forgetting their names. People likely lived there long enough to wear paths into the soil and fill the air with argument, laughter or prayer. What is missing is not emptiness but time, which buries ordinary life until it becomes strange.
