Historic Settlement Glastry in Glastry

Historic Settlement Glastry

What is recorded here

Mortons in Glastray lived beside the quiet sea while the mainland forgot them. They buried their dead with rowing oars and refused every warning that the water would take the town. When the mainland finally arrived to rescue them, Mortons had already vanished into the foam.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as Historic Settlement Glastry. Recorded period: POST-MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
