Historic Settlement Crossmaglen in Crossmaglen

Historic Settlement Crossmaglen

What is recorded here

Mud, fire and breath built Crossmaglen long before stones were cut. The post-medieval settlement still lies buried beneath ordinary ground, waiting for a shovel or a storm to reveal its shape. People lived there, loved there and forgot the names of rooms they never entered.
The official Northern Ireland record identifies this as Historic Settlement Crossmaglen. Recorded period: POST-MED. The official map point was placed at the centre of the recorded archaeological site from the source map reference.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
